Chicago Flamenco Festival 2012 | Photos
February 9 through March 13, passionate performances filled area venues during the 2012 Chicago Flamenco Festival, along with a documentary film series and other events. Sadly, I only caught one of them live: “Rasgos Flamencos,” a free music and dance concert by A Palo Seco on March 7 that had a jam-packed Old Town School of Folk Music in its thrall. (The show repeated the following night at Instituto Cervantes, for the NYC group’s official fest appearance.) But I enjoyed speaking with flamenco guitarist Caroline Planté of Madrid-based group Cruceta Flamenco for our March 8 issue, and Amor Montes de Oca was on hand throughout Pasiónapalooza to capture all of the action—check out her photos above.
