Free discussion with David Delfín at Instituto Cervantes

Fashion designer David Delfín
Update: Instituto Cervantes informed us that due to unforeseen circumstances, this event has been canceled.
By the look of an in-studio preview two weeks back, to call Luna Negra Dance Theater’s new CARMEN.maquia “design-conscious” would be an understatement. Lightweight, portable and collapsible walls by Luis Crespo sketch a variety of interiors and exteriors for scenes based on those in the well-known novella and opera. The choreography, by LNDT artistic director Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, is similarly lean and mean; his adaptation clocks in at just over an hour.
Madrid-based fashion designer David Delfín is creating costumes for the piece, which premieres during a one-night-only engagement March 24 at the Harris Theater. Dance fans and fashion hounds should know that there’s a talk at 6pm this Thursday, March 22 at Instituto Cervantes with Delfín, LNDT rehearsal director Veronica Guadalupe and Arabel Alva Rosales, managing producer of Latino Fashion Week. Admission is free; just make a reservation here at Brown Paper Tickets.
