Collaboraction and Environmental Encroachment bring a Dome of Doom to Wicker Park: photo gallery
Out of Site, the performance art festival I wrote about in TOC 335, began last Friday with the Dome of Doom organized by local theater group Collaboraction and "magic circus band" Environmental Encroachment. TOC photographer Michelle Yue Wang captured the costumed performers as they proceeded through Wicker Park to the Polish Triangle at Ashland, Milwaukee and Division Avenues, where a public dance battle took place inside a geodesic dome. The Dome of Doom was originally created by The Order of Odd-Fish author James Kennedy (pictured in first photo) who once held the fantasty fights in a Wicker Park apartment. If you're curious, read his explanation of the Dome of Doom.
Curated by DEFIBRILLATOR Gallery and supported by WPB, Out of Site will bring projects by Industry of the Ordinary, the New Colony, Meg Duguid, 3 Card Molly and other artists and performers to Wicker Park and Bucktown every Friday evening through Oct 14.
