There are almost 90 Art & Design events happening this weekend. Check our listings for details, and read about a few openings and events that didn't make it into print after the jump, including a Wednesday lecture. They're all free.

Fri 1

In Wicker Park, moniquemeloche hosts an opening reception from 6–8pm for "Gabriel Vormstein: Tempus fungit - amor mannet."

At the Gold Coast's Graham Foundation at 6pm, Wiel Arets, the new dean of IIT's College of Architecture, speaks to architect Robert McCarter about Wiel Arets: Autobiographical References (Birkhäuser, $69.95), which McCarter edited. A reception follows, and signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.

At moniquemeloche, Renaissance Society director of education and associate curator Hamza Walker discusses Gabriel Vormstein's show at 1pm.

The Hills Esthetic Center on the West Side celebrates the opening of "Nick Bastis: In Order to be Company" from 6–10pm. Bastis, an M.F.A. candidate at the University of Chicago, was a 2012 ACRE resident.

In Noble Square, Happy Collaborationists present "Mothergirl: Two Women Do Three Things"—performances by 2012 ACRE residents Katy Albert and Sophia Hamilton—from 7–10pm.

Sun 3

In East Garfield Park, "Drawer's Drawing," a group exhibition cocurated by Carrie Gundersdorf and Eric Lebofsky, opens at Julius Caesar and PEREGRINEPROGRAM from 3–6pm.

Wed 6

In West Town, Museum of Contemporary Art curatorial assistant Karsten Lund launches LATITUDE's monthly lecture series at 7:30pm by asking the question, "Can we think of photographs as strangers?", inspired in part by Susan Sontag's On Photography.
