"Gordon Matta-Clark, Suzanne Harris, Tina Girouard: The 112 Greene Street Years"
Event Info: (312) 455-1990 rhoffmangallery.com
In 1970s SoHo, a group of artists moved into a six-story building on Greene Street—a former rag-salvaging factory—and transformed the dank and dirty industrial space into a hub for artistic experimentation and collaboration. This group show, curated by Jessamyn Fiore, showcases the work of three integral members of the now-legendary alternative space (112 Greene Street). Matta-Clark, Harris and Girouard responded to urban environments and domestic concerns in their respective works, which are a combination of performative, conceptual and site-specific. The close proximity in which these three lived and worked (they were besties) is evident in the ways their post-minimalist pieces overlap and intersect.
