Photographer Tomatsu (1930–2012) captured Japan's southern islands over the course of his career, and his first solo show in the U.S. in nearly 10 years features politically charged, black-and-white images from the 1960s—such as American bombers taking off from Okinawa for Vietnam—as well as bright blue seascapes.
