Forget baseball and apple pie: Few things are more American than barbecue, illegal fireworks and immigration. Contemplate them all on Friday 4, when “A Declaration of Immigration” opens at the National Museum of Mexican Art. The exhibition—which presents perspectives on the immigrant experience by more than 70 artists, including Chicago’s Juan Angel Chavez, Anni Holm and Noelle Mason—kicks off three years of museum programming about the thorny issue.
