We’re not generally fans of The New Yorker cartoons, mostly because we prefer our cartoons funny. But Bruce Eric Kaplan’s aggressively pessimistic single panels—collected in the new I Love You, I Hate You, I’m Hungry (Simon and Schuster, $12.99)—are not only aggressively hilarious, they read like the dark side of The Far Side.
