Cumulus names new market manager for WLS
Four months after Chicago radio veteran Michael Damsky was forced to step down as president and general manager of news/talk WLS-AM (890) and oldies WLS-FM (94.7), a new market manager is stepping into the Cumulus Media stations.
Donna Baker, who most recently headed the three Cumulus stations in Houston, Monday was named Chicago market manager over WLS, effective July 30. Baker, who previously was market manager for Cumulus in Kansas City, has been listed among Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio for the past two years.
In announcing the appointment, Jon Pinch, chief operating officer of Cumulus, said: “We are fortunate to be able to continue to reward our top managers in the company and promote from within.”
Since Damsky ended his 3 1/2-year run in March, WLS has been overseen by David Crowl, regional vice president for Cumulus stations throughout the Midwest. With Baker’s appointment, Crowl is expected to turn over the corner office to her and return to his home base in Cincinnati.
