FORA.tv and MacNeil/Lehrer Productions team up for “Masters of Modern Dance” series

Bill T. Jones
San Francisco–based website FORA.tv, a major player in the videos-of-supersmart-people-saying-interesting-things-on-a-broad-range-of-topics market, has packaged five interviews between PBS NewsHour senior correspondent Jeffrey Brown and men whose names you’ll recognize even if you don’t give one whit about dance: Mikhail Baryshnikov, Mark Morris, Trey McIntyre, Paul Taylor and Bill T. Jones. (You can read more about Jones, whose company visits Chicago in a month, in TOC’s Fall Preview, on newsstands now).
The series, called “Masters of Modern Dance,” clocks in at just over three hours total, with each episode lasting about 40 minutes. There’s some great, fly-on-the-wall footage of rehearsals as well.
Poke around FORA.tv’s video-on-demand—which is free, viewable for a fee, or accessible via membership options—and you’ll find more dance folk, including former New York City Ballet star Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, speaking about inspiration and passion at the Chautauqua Institution.
For TOC readers (that’s you!), the “Masters of Modern Dance Series” is $15 for 60 days of unlimited viewing (25% off the regular price of $19.95). The Bill T. Jones segment is $3.71 for 30 days of unlimited viewing (25% less than the regular price of $4.95). Details on how to apply the discount, and a preview of the Jones episode, are after the jump.
