Striding Lion Performance Group at the Viaduct Theater
Two dance-theater installations assess our relationship with America’s past.
This American life Last summer’s premiere Remember the…(Alamo) had us quoting Pop Art. The reflexively historical dancestallation was “analogous to James Rosenquist’s F-111,” we blogged, “with Bowie knives and beefcake in for the fighter jet and spaghetti.” Beginning Thursday 19, Striding Lion Performance Group alternates four encores of (Alamo) with four of its predecessor/companion The Jenkins Farm Project, which references the Great Depression the director’s ancestors experienced in North Carolina. For its final weekend shows, the group brings The Jenkins Farm Project up to Northwestern.
