Nutty and nice Do we dare consider a season without “America’s No. 1 Nut”? The perennial favorite, playing through December 27, is the standard-bearer of holiday mainstays. Countless versions of the Petipa classic have been adapted over the years, though Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino’s 25-year-old The Nutcracker hits the mark with exuberant performances and playful quirks.
