Obama, Heartthrob

US, Ark of the Archetypes: The Politics of Projection
Five days before the election and the Obama-inspired artwork just won't let up. This time the Chicago Loop Alliance dips into the fray with its final Pop-Up Art Loop Show, "US, Ark of the Archetypes: The Politics of Projection, inside the lobby of the Inland Steel Building on Dearborn. Graphic designer Rick Valicenti has created 50 hybrid images of our Commander-in-Chief superimposed with the faces of some of America's most recognizable current and historical figures. "...the President's features become more or less prominent based on how much he embodies one of these many personas," says Valicenti according to the press release. You'll either find the whole thing thought-provoking or risible—once you see Barack Obama's nose and mouth jutting out of a Rob Pattinson face, brown hair fashionably swept across the forehead and the words, "The Heartthrob" typed underneath, there's little inbetween. Through Nov 17. Inland Steel Building Lobby, 77 S Dearborn Ave.
