Remember back in February when we reported on the restoration of the Patio Theater? The stunning 1927 movie house (6008 W Irving Park Rd) finally reopens tonight, after what Demetri Kouvalis, who runs the theater with his dad, Alexander, says was a protracted licensing process. (Because they were reopening under a new business name, he told me in April, they weren't grandfathered in and had to abide by inspection codes for new theaters, which required additional refurbishments like "panic bars" on the front doors, an upgraded emergency electrical system, exit lights and aisle lights.) In a suitably mammoth choice for the theater's 45-by-35-foot screen, this week's film is Thor, and tonight's showtimes are 5, 7:30 and 10pm; admission is $5.
