MOSTRA III: Brasilian Film Series

Xingu
For those too anxious to spend the entire evening watching election results trickle in, there are numerous big-screen alternatives in Chicago tonight. One of them is Xingu, which played at CIFF last month and is now the opening night selection of the MOSTRA III: Brasilian Film Series. The festival, which continues through November 17, offers a diverse array of shorts, features, documentaries and animated films—all either made in Brazil or about Brazilian culture.
Though tonight's gala event will run you a cool $40, and admission to closing night film Carra-Cega is $25, the rest of the screenings are free. Most will take place at academic venues throughout the city. Xingu screens at 7pm this evening in DePaul's Daley Building, 247 S. State St. Tickets can be purchased here.
