VOD critics’ picks, February 16–22, 2012
Two of last year’s best movies—and an unreleased gem—arrive on VOD.

Elizabeth Olsen in Martha Marcy May Marlene
1. Martha Marcy May Marlene
Dir. Sean Durkin. 2011. R. 120mins. Elizabeth Olsen, Sarah Paulson, John Hawkes, Hugh Dancy, Brady Corbet.
A breakout success for both writer-director Durkin and star Olsen, this gripping psychodrama immerses us in the frazzled headspace of a cult escapee trying to reacclimate herself to “normal” society. Available on demand widely Tue 21.
2. The Interrupters
Dir. Steve James. 2011. N/R. 111mins. Documentary.
Not since James’s 1994 Hoop Dreams has there been a more essential Chicago documentary. Something else the two movies have in common: They were both snubbed by the Academy. Available on pbs.org.
3. Change Nothing
Dir. Pedro Costa. 2009. N/R. 100mins. In French and English, with subtitles. Documentary.
Portuguese auteur Costa (Colossal Youth) goes onstage and into the recording studio with French actress-singer Jeanne Balibar, emerging with a fascinating glimpse into the artist’s creative process. Available on Netflix Watch Instantly.
