Sienna Miller | Interview outtakes

Sienna Miller
In HBO’s The Girl, based on the biography Spellbound by Beauty, Tippi Hedren believes she’ll be acting opposite mechanical birds for the attic scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, only to find her director—and infatuated tormentor—has arranged for live birds to be thrown at his star…for five days of shooting. During my recent interview with Sienna Miller, who plays Hedren and appears on the cover of this week’s TOC, I asked the Briton about her own experience with the birds. Her response:
“Well, it was far less severe than it was for her, but it was intense nonetheless. We tried to re-create it as much as possible, so I did have live birds being thrown at me, which was not the most pleasant experience, but nowhere near the level of suffering that she had to endure. It was not too pleasant—beaks and flapping—but also really exciting to be re-creating such an iconic scene in cinema.”
The Girl premieres October 20 on HBO. Read our interview with Sienna Miller here.
