The X-Files: I Want to Believe
For Carter to resurrect the franchise after such a long absence seems odd; he, apparently, is the one who wants to believe. In case the subtitle didn't tip you off, faith is the theme here. Both of our agent heros (Duchovny and Anderson), who come in from the cold to find a missing colleague, are dealing with their own shaky convictions; there's also a guilt-ridden psychic priest (Connolly) included for good measure. Casual filmwatchers may wonder why they've just sat through what's simply a decent episode writ large. The DVD contains additional footage, and the three-disc set ($34.98) has making-of materials and commentary tracks.
