“The Universe: A Walk through Space and Time at the Adler”
A new exhibit attempts to give us mere humans perspective on our 14-billion-year-old home.
“The Universe: A Walk through Space and Time” The Adler Planetarium’s new all-ages exhibit is sure to blow minds both old and young. Of course, dividing up humans into those categories becomes ridiculous upon sauntering through an installation that documents the 14-billion-year evolution of the cosmos. While some components might as well be abstract sci-fi concepts to most of us layfolk, Adler curators make the whole experience memorably interactive, starting with the light projections that appear like stars on the entryway floor, forming and quickly collapsing under your feet. Later, you can sit on a couch with friends (and pretend you have the ultimate home-entertainment system) as you control a large TV screen, deciding which points across the galaxy you’d like to visit.
