“Author, Author”
A photo retrospective of famous authors, playwrights and screenwriters.
Granted, the subjects of photographer Michael Childers’s “Author, Author” exhibit at the Harold Washington Library Center—more than 50 iconic authors, playwrights and screenwriters—are identified by name, but it would have been helpful if they were accompanied by descriptions. I, for one, wanted to know when he captured the youthful Steve Martin, or where he photographed Harvey Fierstein or what literary work Joseph Wambaugh is best known for. That aside, the portraits, which cover the renowned Hollywood photographer’s career from the 1960s until now, are definitely worth a gander. If you want to learn more about the notables, you’re in the perfect place to do some research.
