Jane Addams Hull-House Museum
Jane Addams Hull-House Museum
Tue–Fri 10am–4pm; Sun noon–4pm
$5 suggested donation.A standing testament to the work of humanitarian Jane Addams, this museum is housed in the home she opened in 1889 to serve people in need, including a young Benny Goodman, who learned to play clarinet there. See text-intensive display, paintings that hung at the settlement, pottery and tableware created through her community art program, her desk, and, next door, the dining hall where she and residents shared meals. A 2010 rehab gave the house more exhibits, original objects and an updated look.
