Aaron "Pantha" Robinson, 27
How did you get the name Pantha? Is it because you’re a smooth-operating valet?
It’s my hip-hop name. I’m performing with my brother—Beabz the Face of Chicago—on July 7 and 14 at the [Debonair] Social Club on Milwaukee Avenue.
Do you rap about parking cars?
Well, I have one line: “It feels so good for me to be a scholar?/?I sell space for at least 80 dollars.”
Killer belt buckle—is it real gold?
Hell yeah, it’s real. I usually wear two of them—that’s my style, you know. My belt buckles are real big, like in New York.
What’s the other one you wear?
It be a bull, a little Taurus.
Are you a Taurus?
No. I’m a Leo. I’m a lion.
Rar! Do people ever growl at you?
[Laughs] Nah, I growl at everybody else.
What’s your favorite place to eat in Chicago?
Oh baby, it’s gotta be Taurus [Flavors], on Stony Island. Oh, my Philly cheesesteak dipped in mild sauce.
Favorite new piece of music?
It’s gotta be R. Kelly, that’s my dude, he’s tight. [“The Zoo”] is about him making love to you in the jungle, like animals.
As long as they’re not underage.
Aww! Nah, that ain’t what it’s about.
Favorite thing to do in Chicago?
Being in the studio. If I had a beautiful woman right now, we’d be all over Chicago. But in the meantime, the studio’s my wife.—Leah Pietrusiak
