Your perfect weekend

Warm weather might feel like a flight of fancy, but the Chicago Boat, RV and Outdoors Show (McCormick Place, 2301 S Lake Shore Dr, 312-946-6272; 11am–9pm; $10, kids ages 13–15 $4, kids 12 and under free) proves it exists. Prepare yourself by stocking up on outdoor toys—from wakeboards to budget-priced boats. Those not interested in doling out cash when summer’s a long time comin’ can wander through an antique boat show and pirate display.

In high school one of the few things we enjoyed being introduced to (in addition to pot smoking and Nirvana) was the weird world of Virginia Woolf. Now we can delve even deeper into her Edwardian-era lit scene by hitting up the exhibit “A Room of Their Own: The Bloomsbury Artists in American Collections” (Northwestern University’s Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art, 40 Arts Circle Dr, Evanston, 847-491-4000; 10am–8pm, free). The exhibit features paintings, works on paper and vintage small-press books by Bloomsbury group members, including paintings by Ginny’s sister, artist Vanessa Bell.
