If you FAILED math
Get a crash course in basic arithmetic at Harold Washington College. Starting Mon 23, the school’s foundational mathematics (30 E Lake St, 312-553-5600, hwashington.ccc.edu, $261–$832) course focuses on basic concepts covered in high school. Get in before Da Mare pushes to cut remedial courses from City Colleges. More specific classes in algebra, stats or trig are also available.

If you FAILED English
Learn where you went wrong with that SAT essay at StoryStudio Chicago (4043 N Ravenswood Ave, 773-477-7710, storystudiochicago.com). This year’s roster of writing classes includes workshops ranging from one-day food- and travel-writing classes to eight week courses in subjects like personal narrative, novel and freelance magazine writing. Classes cost $35 to $380 and kick off Sept 13.

If you FAILED P.E.
It’s never too late to climb the rope. Truman College (1145 W Wilson Ave, 773-907-4000, trumancollege.edu) offers adult phys. ed. classes that don’t include awkward puberty encounters. Fall semester courses start Mon 23 and include goodies like tai chi, Zumba and square dancing for adults only. Semester-long classes cost $87 to $208 depending on whether you live in the district of Chicago or not.

If you FAILED German
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? If not, head to German-American cultural center DANK Haus (4740 N Western Ave, 773-561-9181, dankhaus.com) to fill your brain with some German. Classes are available at seven levels of instruction and cost $290 for the semester ($270 for DANK Haus members) plus $85 for books. An 18-week term starts Wed 25; arrive at 6pm to register.
