Weekend viewing: Bethany Thomas on Chicago Tonight; Jess Godwin's new music video
As we head into the three-day weekend, check out a couple of videos that have crossed the Unscripted desk this week.
Court Theatre's production of Porgy and Bess was featured last night on WTTW's Chicago Tonight, which means I can show you the face-melting rendition of "My Man's Gone Now" that I described in last week's piece on its singer, Bethany Thomas. Watch Bethany and music director Doug Peck below or go to WTTW to see the full segment, including host Phil Ponce's interview with director Charles Newell. Then read John Beer's five-star review and get your tickets.
Meanwhile, actor and singer-songwriter Jess Godwin (who played Dot in this season's Porchlight production of Sunday in the Park with George) recently released her first music video, and it's chockablock with Chicago theater talent (including Thomas). The song, "Katy's Side," is from Godwin's new EP, Klutz (available on iTunes).

It's okay to be a show-off.
