The astonishing, five-star en route, created and performed by Australian troupe one step at a time like this, will have a continued life in Chicago with a local staff, Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced. After weeks of discussion about whether—and how—to extend the sold-out run, originally scheduled to end Saturday 13, a decision was made that one step member Paul Moir would remain in Chicago for another few weeks; he and CST's Greta Honold, who's been working with the group throughout their Chicago engagement, will train a contingent of Chicago artists to continue the experience August 19–September 17.

Check out my my five-star review of en route here; I was so moved by the experience that I also wrote and read an essay about it for the Paper Machete, which you can hear on WBEZ's podcast. Tickets for the extension are $35 and available starting tomorrow, Friday 12, now by calling Chicago Shakespeare Theater's box office at 312-595-5600. The extremely limited capacity of en route means the five added weeks only amount to 270 available tickets; call fast, folks.

UPDATE 7pm: While Chicago Shakes told the press that tickets would go on sale tomorrow, they sent an announcement to those who'd signed up for the email wait list that the new block is on sale now—which explains the tweets and Facebook status updates I've been seeing over the last few hours from people saying they'd scored tickets. The box office is open until 8pm tonight and I'm hearing some days are already selling out. The box office reopens tomorrow at 9:30am.
