Mary-Arrchie to revisit Tracy Letts's Superior Donuts in 2012
Mary-Arrchie Theatre Company, the venerable fringe outpost housed above a liquor store in East Lakeview, has announced it will stage the first post-Steppenwolf Chicago production of Tracy Letts's Chicago-set Superior Donuts, running February 16–March 25, 2012. In , Mary-Arrchie's artistic director Richard Cotovsky understudied Michael McKean in the lead role of Uptown donut-shop proprietor Arthur Przybyszewski; Cotovsky went on to play the same role last year at Washington, D.C.'s Studio Theatre (pictured above right, opposite Johnny Ramey). Though I can't confirm at this late hour, it seems likely that Cotovsky will reprise the role again at Mary-Arrchie.
The rest of the company's newly-announced season will include revivals of Adam Rapp's Red Light Winter, directed by Carlo Garcia (November 10–December 18) and Sam Shepard's Geography of a Horse Dreamer (April 12–May 20). The previously announced season opener, Laurence Fishburne's , bows this Thursday.
