TimeLine receives National Theatre Company Grant from American Theatre Wing

The Pitmen Painters at TimeLine Theatre Company
Chicago's TimeLine Theatre Company has been chosen as a recipient of the American Theatre Wing's National Theatre Company Grants, the theater has announced. The Wing, best known for creating the Tony Awards, is for the second year expanding its horizons beyond New York by providing $10,000 general-operating grants to what it deems the most promising emerging theater companies around the country.
TimeLine is among ten recipient companies founded at least five but not more than 15 years ago and chosen for their achievements, unique missions and audience cultivation. This year's other recipients include Austin's Rude Mechanicals, Philadelphia's Pig Iron and northwest Arkansas's TheatreSquared. TimeLine artistic director PJ Powers and managing director Elizabeth K. Auman will accept the award at an October 24th event in New York.
Two Chicago theaters were honored in the program's first year, with About Face Theatre and Silk Road Theatre Project (recently rebranded Silk Road Rising) chosen for grants. TimeLine currently has two productions on the boards: The Pitmen Painters, at the company's East Lakeview home base, and A Walk in the Woods, running at Theater Wit.
