Playwrights Horizons nabs Lisa D'Amour's Detroit

Laurie Metcalf and Kate Arrington in Lisa D'Amour's Detroit at Steppenwolf Theatre Company
Playwrights Horizons announced today that Lisa D'Amour's Detroit, which premiered as the opening production of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 2010–2011 season, will make its New York debut as the opener of PH's 2012–2013 season. Anne Kauffman will direct.
The play starred Steppenwolf ensemble members Kate Arrington, Kevin Anderson, Ian Barford and Laurie Metcalf in its Chicago production, which was helmed by Austin Pendleton. It was announced in January 2011 that Steppenwolf's production would open on Broadway this fall, with producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel taking the lead.
Richards and Frankel steered the Steppenwolf productions of August: Osage County and Superior Donuts to Broadway and are the lead producers of the Broadway transfer of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? that's been announced for fall 2012. As fall 2011 approached, however, Detroit never announced a theater booking for Broadway. The play was named a finalist for the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. D'Amour also currently has a two-play commission from Steppenwolf.

It's okay to be a show-off.
