Signal Ensemble announces 2012–13 season
Signal Ensemble Theatre has confirmed a three-play lineup for its next season, marking the company's tenth anniversary. The slate opens with the Chicago premiere of Princes of Waco, a whiskey-tinged black comedy by young Texas-born playwright Robert Askins; it's to be directed by Bries Vannon (August 18–September 22).
Successors, a new comedy about a backbiting political family by company member Jon Steinhagen, will be directed by co-artistic director Ronan Marra (January 26–March 2). The season's rounded out with the Chicago premiere of Sheila Callaghan's 2010 Lascivious Something, which the author has described as "a love story that mirrored the death of American political idealism, using the 1980 election of Ronald Reagan as a backdrop." Marra again directs (May 4–June 8). Signal's current production,, continues through Saturday.
