Steppenwolf announces casting for fall shows
Steppenwolf Theatre Company has completed casting for its fall productions of Good People and The Book Thief. Will Allan, Keith Kupferer and Lusia Strus will join previously announced Steppenwolf ensemble members Alana Arenas, Mariann Mayberry and Molly Regan for David Lindsay-Abaire's Boston-set Good People. Ensemble member K. Todd Freeman directs (September 13–November 11 in the Downstairs Theatre).
The Steppenwolf for Young Adults production of The Book Thief, adapted by Heidi Stillman from the novel by Markus Zusak, will feature ensemble member Francis Guinan along with Patrick Andrews, Amy J. Carle, Rob Fagin, Rae Gray, Dennis William Grimes, Nikki Klix, Ian Knox, Anthony-Jon LeSage, Clancy McCartney, Andy Monson, Mark Ulrich and Nicole Wiesner. The production will be directed by Hallie Gordon (October 16–November 9 in the Upstairs Theatre).
The theater also announced partial casting for productions coming later in the season. Anna D. Shapiro's December production of Stephen Adly Guirgis's The Motherfucker with the Hat will feature Sandra Delgado, Sandra Marquez, John Ortiz and Gary Perez, with one cast member remaining to be announced. Ortiz and Perez are, like Guirgis, longtime members of New York's LAByrinth Theatre Company.
In April, Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Glenn Davis and Jacqueline Williams will join previously announced ensemble members Arenas, Freeman, Jon Michael Hill and Tim Hopper for the world premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's Head of Passes, directed by Tina Landau. McCraney and Landau are members of the Steppenwolf ensemble as well.
