Sideshow Theatre Company announces 2012–13 season
Sideshow Theatre Company, one of the city's fastest-rising young companies, has revealed the full slate for its sixth season. That roster will include the Chicago premiere of Jason Grote's Maria/Stuart, a dysfunctional family farce with a supernatural twist. Marti Lyons will direct the 2008 piece by the 1001 author at Theater Wit, March 30–May 5.
Ensemble member Megan A. Smith will direct The Burden of Not Having a Tail, a world premiere by Northwestern M.F.A. grad Carrie Barrett. The post-apocalyptic survivalist comedy will feature Sideshow artistic associate Karie Miller; it runs June 29–August 4 at Chicago Dramatists. The previously announced season opener, the U.S. premiere of Roland Schemmelpfennig's Idomeneus (helmed by artistic director Jonathan L. Green), begins previews next week at the DCASE Storefront Theater, where it will run through September 23.
