“Shits & Giggles: NSFW” at SALONATHON | Photo gallery
This week’s installment of alt-performance series SALONATHON, on Monday nights at Beauty Bar, brought “Shits & Giggles” out of hibernation. (The queer variety show ran sporadically at Rogers Park bar Parlour on Clark until June.) The “NSFW”–themed lineup stayed true to its title.
Host Trandroid (A.J. Durand), in the opening act, fellated his bicycle’s seat horn as foreplay to lying on his back and making love to it, missionary-style. As her alter ego Marlene Biscotti, Kristen Studard described bedding down with audience-suggested celebs ranging from Hillary Clinton (“the wildest sex I’ve ever had with a woman”) to Christopher Walken (a hilarious bit about being chased around and surprise-penetrated in the dark). “Gigi the Manicurist” hollered out a take on The Sweet’s “The Ballroom Blitz,” and JTeddy, a.k.a. Erin Jones, nailed a gender-bent striptease to Prince’s “If I Was Your Girlfriend.”
The show’s final act, set to R. Kelly’s mix of Janet Jackson’s “Anytime, Anyplace,” found Annoyance regular Steve Hnilicka, as D’Juana Cyber, lipsynching through mouthfuls of submarine sandwich and Hidden Valley ranch dressing before hiking his skirt up and sodomizing himself with a Hostess Twinkie. The night ended with performers and audience members alike singing karaoke.
