That Little Mexican Café
The name evokes unknown taco stands and birreria shacks, so it took a second to get acclimated to this contemporary Edgewater restaurant. But we soon settled in: Just-fried chips and freshly-made salsa are as nice a welcome as anybody can ask for

Kitchen Sink
At one time, this was little more than just a coffee shop, an old-school, kind of dusty one at that. But proving yet again that there is no such thing as “just a coffee shop” anymore, two baristas bought the place, changed the name, redid the interior and added a nice menu

Johnny Brown Bag
The folks behind Via Carducci are behind this tiny panini/salad/small plates/pizza spot—which really is a takeout operation with a few tables crammed in, but whatever. The pizza is fine, the arancini is passable, the grilled calamari isn't terrible (but almost!)

Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop & Soda Fountain
What sets Ghirardelli apart from other sweet shops is that you can usually choose your poison in either bar or scoop form. The Intense Dark sundaes (spawned from the chocolate bar series of the same name) mix cocoa-heavy chocolate with flavors such as espresso, raspberry and mint chip

Ghareeb Nawaz
The large crowd at the counter of this bare-bones Indo-Pak spot seems chaotic, but the diners are really just waiting for their postmeal chai. So push your way through, and order a bowl of delicious dal, loaded with bay leaves and chili peppers

Furama
For some, Sundays are for church. For others, it’s dim sum time. This spot offers one of the largest selections in town and proves the most consistent overall

Fat Sandwich Company
At this "grease truck" joint (the restaurant's words, not ours), anything can be topped with anything. (Seriously, you can top a hot dog with a cheeseburger at this place.)
