North Coast Music Festival 2011, Saturday: Rusko
Watching Rusko deejay, you'd think he is playing a game of hot potato with his feet, that the stage itself is white hot. The Cockney Thug—as he's become known—gets down like he's jumping with an invisible rope.
The ram-packed assembly took a different approach. It's more of a half-time Compton tomahawk, and when the dubstep ambassador hit us with his wonky "California Love" remix not even Snoop would have resisted.
The frantic man onstage didn't linger for long though. Spanning dubby slo-mo skanks, wobblestep madness and the obligatory anthems "Every Day,""Wuboot" and set closer "Hold On," the only thing raging harder than the crowd was the mohawked headbanger himself.
