Wilco leads Chicago-centric lineup at minor league ballpark
Last December, Wilco played five nights in five Chicago venues of varying sizes. That wasn't enough to accommodate all its fans.
To give everyone a chance to catch the band, Wilco is playing the Fifth Third Bank Stadium, home of the Kane County Cougars, in Geneva, IL on July 8th. Who says it's a minor-league band? Performing with Wilco are two more homegrown talents: The ever-loquacious Andrew Bird and soul group The Congregation. The evening, part of WXRT's 40 Years of XRT celebration, culminates explosively in fireworks.
General admission tickets are $50 and went on sale Saturday. Kids under four get in free. Some local baseball rock trivia: Jimmy Buffett was the first musician to use Wrigley Field as a concert venue, in 2005. So that's something else Kane County has over Wrigley, aside from higher-quality baseball.
Tickets are available online at eTix.com and at the Fifth Third Bank Ballpark ticket office. Tickets can also be purchased at The Vic Theatre box office with no service charge.
