Riot Fest music festival: Chicago's punk party in Humboldt Park
The final Chicago summer music festival of the season is a punk rock paradise with the Replacements, Pixies, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy and more.
North Coast Music Festival bills itself as Summer's Last Stand, but that is not technically true. For the second summer, the Riot Fest music festival heads outside for its annual celebration (now in its ninth year), filling Humboldt Park over three days—just before fall arrives. And what a lineup! Seemingly every other summer music festival has tried to get the Replacements to reunite. Riot Fest makes fantasy reality, as the Minneapolis legends will headline the final night, Sunday, September 15. Elsewhere, it's a punk rock dream for all types, with Pixies, Rancid, (Black) Flag, Fall Out Boy, Blondie, Bad Religion and dozens more rounding out the bill. Frankly, it's a slate of bands that blows away Pitchfork Music Festival and gives Lollapalooza a run for its money.
