Michael Jackson reincarnated at the Field Museum?
For the last two days, the Chicago dailies have been heavily covering the MJ look-alike sculpture (pictured above) at the Field Museum. If you've been living under a rock, here's the deal: This ancient Egyptian bust looks exactly like the late pop singer, down to the chiseled nose. This morning, the museum sent out a public statement, and if you read between the lines you can feel the awkwardness—so many numbers stressing the time period between Jacko and the Field's acquisition of the sculpture. They must be inundated with comments!
"This bust of an Egyptian woman is nearly 3,000 years old, yet the resemblance to the late King of Pop is uncanny. This picture has been circulating under Totallylookslike.com for years—but recently, due to his passing, this limestone bust has received a lot of media attention locally. In return, visitors are coming to The Field Museum and giving this permanent exhibition renewed interest...This exhibition has been at The Field for the last 21 years. The bust has been in our collections for more than 100 years."
