Lollapalooza 2008 Day 2: I'm going in, all the way in.
(*It literally is impossible to see every band at Lollapalooza, but in an effort to cover as much music as possible, sets that I caught some portion of will get at least a sentence each.)
Oh yeah? I'll take that challenge, Jim. So today, Saturday, I'm going to attempt the "impossible"—catch a song from the 30+ acts playing across six stages.
Look, I'm not counting the Kidz Ztage (or however it's zpelled), as those acts all play on other days. I could conceivably catch them at other times. Nor will I brave the DJ tent, a.k.a. Perry's. For one, the stage was added at the last minute after I planned this ridiculous endeavor. Two, I don't need to see some dude from That 70's Show spinning Juelz Santana. Everyone knows that DJing isn't real music. Ah, I kid, I kid. No, mostly I just want to live. But I'm going to try to pop in as much as possible.
The weather is accomodating—today looks to be the mildest of the weekend. I'm leaving the backpack at home to streamline. I picked up some gel inserts, and rolled the kinks out of my feet by standing on tennis balls. Stretches are complete, and I'm hydrating. Up above you can see the timetable I've set out for myself. I've attached it to my forearm like a cheat sheet of plays on an NFL quarterback.
Check back later to see if I survived and succeeded, and pick up a copy of next weeks Time Out Chicago for the story.
