The Adventure starts tonight

Every year the Empty Bottle and British music magazine The Wire challenge us to get out of our indie-rock comfort zones and expand our sonic boundaries with their annual co-sponsored Adventures in Modern Music Festival. To celebrate the fest's fifth year, the Bottle has outdone itself, with a whopping five nights of amazing sounds. Tonight Drag City folk duo White Magic plays (read our preview here); Thursday 27 gives us Pere Ubu; Friday 28 the Jesus Lizard's David Yow returns (and likely whips out his ball sack) with his new band Qui (pictured above, and read our Q&A here); Atlanta's amazing Deerhunter returns to town (read our album review here); and Japan's mighty sludge rockers Boris play Sunday 30 (read our preview here). Check our listings for more details and pick up tickets on the Empty Bottle's site.
