The Weekender | Thanksgiving weekend | November 24-27, 2011

Thursday 24
8pm, 10pm, Jazz Showcase, $20-$25
Italian-born vocalist Roberta Gambarini, a warm-voiced favorite among swing connoisseurs and critics alike, has regularly matched wits with legends such as Hank Jones, James Moody, Jimmy Heath and Herbie Hancock.
10pm, The Shrine, $TBA
Hard-spitting Gary, Indiana, native Freddie Gibbs found a great way to get away from his family on Thanksgiving, dashing off to the Shrine after dinner to celebrate his latest mix-tape, Cold Day in Hell. And though he's technically hosting this party rather than performing, ceding the soundtrack to DJs Sean Mac and Vic Lloyd, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Jeezy-endorsed rapper on the mic at some point once the tryptophan stupor has worn off.
10pm, Delilah's, no cover
Chuck Wren, lifelong ska fan and the singular force behind Chicago-based island dance label Jump Up Records, hits Delilah’s once a month for a rocksteady dance party.
