Music and club nights this weekend | February 2-5

Late Bar
Thursday 2
Rumer
$13 – 9pm, Lincoln Hall
The latest British buzz magnet with a soul and a sound that outstrip her years, Rumer offers a breezy spin on classic pop that can call to mind Karen Carpenter, Dusty Springfield and even a young Carole King. She makes her stateside splash behind a highly touted album, Seasons of My Soul, and we feel confident stating you'll never see her in a room this small again.
Bittersweet
FREE - 10pm, Late Bar
Late Bar fixture DJ Peroxide spins romantically melancholy rock tunes, goth, shoegaze and alternative.
Dusty Grooves
FREE - 10pm, Cobra Lounge
A rotating cast, curated by DJ Johnny Walker, spins personal favorites on the old-school soul tip. Familiar faces often include Zebo and Major Taylor.
The Social
FREE - 10pm, Lumen
Chicago has its own star DJ in Timbuck2, the resident here on Thursday night. He’s the youngest on-air personality in WGCI’s history, so it should go without saying that he knows how to rock a party.
Friday 3
Wale
$35 – 8pm, Cubby Bear
After Rick Ross signed Wale to his growing Maybach Music stable in early 2011, Ambition was released and has revived the rhymer’s struggling career. Thankfully, that doesn’t mean the album is saddled with empty verses about booties and Bugattis. Sure, he boasts over polished platinum beats studded with guests like Ne-Yo and Kid Cudi, but his feet remain firmly planted on the ground.
Estelle
$20 - 8pm, Double Door
There’s a romantic quality to Estelle’s voice, and matters of the heart serve her best. Four years after her debut Shine, Estelle’s All of Me will arrive later this moth. With it, we get something close to the cool cadence of Sade on her new single “Thank You,” and “Break My Heart” speaks to that silky, ‘70s low-rider soul.
The Gallery
$20, free before 11pm with R.S.V.P. – 10pm, Y Bar
This adult-friendly joint hangs on with a combination of exclusivity, good-looking grown-ups and lively, energetic house sets from Billy the Kid and friends.
Miami Nights: MIA to CHI
$10, ladies free – 10pm, Nacional 27
DJ Konsept puts a new spin on Fridays at Nacional 27, mixing spicy Latin beats—salsa, reggaeton, bachata and merengue—with rending dance styles like moombahton and digital cumbia.
Ryan Paradise
$10 – 10pm, Debonair Social Club
Ryan Paradise calls the upstairs booth home on Fridays and Saturdays spinning house, Italo, electro and all things hipster cool.
Saturday 4
GlitterGuts Dance Punk Circus
$10 - 8pm, Metro
White Mystery, Environmental Encroachment, the Blue Ribbon Glee Club, Perfect Kiss, Clique Talk and Pure Magical Love supply live music at the four-year anniversary party for photo blog GlitterGuts.
Dave Douglass Quintet
$15 - 8pm, Green Mill
Restless trumpeter and bandleader Dave Douglas hits the Mill for a one-off with his quintet—including saxophonist Donny McCaslin—supporting recent releases in the GPS download series from his artist-run Greenleaf record label. Those downloads are also contained in the limited-edition box Three Views, which finds the ever-imaginative improviser working with top-shelf players like Vijay Iyer and Ravi Coltrane, as well as So Percussion and Douglas's Brass Ecstasy.
Bobby Womack
$55-$85 - 8pm, The Venue at Horseshoe Casino
Bobby Womack oozes a truckload of ache that is equaled in his volume. His bourbon voice is all burn and butterscotch. His masterpiece, “Across 110th Street,” a tale of junkies and hookers turning tricks in Harlem, still chills after four decades, and still uplifts with its percolating bongos and wah-wah, roar and rasp.
Discotheque Saturdays
$20, free before 11pm with R.S.V.P. – 10pm, enclave
DJ Jordan V presides over enclave’s weekend soundtrack, keeping the River North dance floor crowded with a mix of hip-hop, dance remixes and electro.
Helter Skelter
$5 – 10pm, Neo
Head to Neo for a hellishly good time on Saturdays as resident DJ Jeff Moyer spins a heavy-hitting mix of electro, retro, industrial, new wave and goth.
Rise Saturdays
$10, free before 1am with R.S.V.P. – 10pm, Spy Bar
Spy Bar dedicates Saturdays to its residents with Criz R, Torio, Kalendr and Inphinity occupying the booth on a regular.
Sunday 5
Speakeasy Sunday
7pm, Everleigh Social Club
Mixing cool jazz and steamy burlesque, Michelle L’amour and her Chicago starlets tease away your Sunday night.
C.I.A.
$20 - 10pm, Underground
Standing for Chicago Industry Alliance, this is the night for all you restaurant/bar fold to enjoy yourselves and rock out to DJ Rock City and weekly guests.
