Los Lobos

The biggest name in Booking Ahead this week is undoubedly Neil Young & Crazy Horse, whose rugged roots-rock fills the United Center October 11—with a supporting set from Los Lobos no less. The latter has another local gig lined up, closing out the year at the soon-to-open City Winery Chicago, the opening season of which we detailed earlier this week. Starting in August, the venue opens its doors to Mavis Staples, Rosanne Cash, Bebel Gilberto, Sam Moore (of Sam & Dave) and many others. Other concert announcements this week include a September 30 stop at the Riv from the back-in-action Grizzly Bear, plus a Chicago Theatre date with '90s heartthrob Chris Isaak November 24, and two promising shows on Sep 21—Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and Dam-Funk at Metro, and the Melvins at Double Door. Also on the horizon is West Fest, which goes down July 7 and 8 and features the Black Lips and Flosstradamus among other crowd pleasers.
