Overall, the crowd skewed toward the young and the glitter-covered. Good vibes were the rule of the day as packs of club pixies, beach bros, rave burnouts, exurb gangsters, Hot Topic strippers and flower children roamed the stadium and surrounding stages. A portly middle-aged gentleman in full hunting camo did solo interpretive dances. A woman dressed for high society with a pillbox hat carried a bloodied, sawed-off Barbie. Neon was everywhere: neon suspenders, neon daisy dukes, neon fishnet stockings and thousands upon thousands of plastic neon Wayfarer-style sunglasses.
Folks dressed as superheroes and carried Mexican, German, American and Chicago flags. I spotted both a horse and a scary clown in attendance. There was a loose and communal feeling, as those in the crowd mixed freely, flirting, dancing, doing drugs, or just closing their eyes and spacing out.
