Real Estate had the distinct pleasure of opening the "sunburn set"—those couple of late afternoon hours in which the sun aligns directly with the mainstage, causing rampant burns and general malaise. Luckily, the band's easy-breezy guitar ditties called upon the perfect amount of minimal movement from the audience, most often in the form of a light clap or gentle nodding. Though a talented band, Real Estate's lyrics were more often than not muddled, creating a kind of unified tone that, while pleasant, had the capacity to turn sunburnt malaise into afternoon sleepiness. The band meandered its way through a solid set, featuring songs like "Wonder Years," "Out of Tune," "Municipality" and "It's Real." Closing track "All the Same" featured an extended instrumental outro that helped ease things to a final close. While Real Estate may have had the elements against it, the group still delivered an even-keel performance that helped gently carry the crowd though that damn blistering sun.
It's okay to be a show-off.
