The Pitchfork Music Festival is around the corner, and as such, the afterparty scene is starting to coalesce at clubs like the Empty Bottle (Lower Dens, Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees), Schubas (Purity Ring, Unknown Mortal Orchestra), Lincoln Hall (Chromatics) and Reggie's Rock Club (The Olivia Tremor Control). Snag tickets while you can, these late-night gigs always sell out quick. This week also brought news of yet another Morrissey date. Chasing his chest-baring turn at the Congress last December, the former Smiths frontman changes course and croons instead at the classy Chicago Theatre October 27. A month ahead of that, the State Street hall opens its doors to the inevitable collaboration between David Byrne and St. Vincent, supporting joint effort Love This Giant, out a week before. The promising City Winery Chicago hasn't yet opened, but keeps adding more bookings. We're not complaining. Two evenings with Fleetwood Mac rocker Lindsey Buckingham were recently announced for late August. Rounding out this week's calendar additions are Wu-Tang rappers RZA and Ghostface Killah, visiting the Double Door separately, in August and September. Last but not least, Lincoln Hall opens its doors to two resurgent acts in late September: Dirty Three and Mission of Burma.
