Electrelane reunites for summer gigs
Today, British all-female rock band Electrelane announced its reunion. Hooray! Of course, I should admit right up front that guitarist Mia Clarke is a Time Out Chicago's Classical contributor.
The Brighton-born act's Chicago roots run deeper than that, however. Chicago a cappella supplied choir parts to a couple lovely numbers (check out the gorgeous "The Valleys"), and local producer Steve Albini twiddled knobs on two records. Unfortunately, Electrelane will not be making any Chicago appearances, as the upcoming summer tour is confined to the Old World. It would have been nice to see them at Pitchfork.
Electrelane will certainly play Field Day in London, as well as some continental shows in Poland, Spain, etc.
The group's punky Stereolab sound has popped up here and there in indie films since the four split in 1997.
