Wavefront Festival announced

Duck Sauce, A-Trak, Armand Van Helden
This summer is truly a dream for the throngs of Chicagoans who intend to head out and dance their asses off festival style. And now, in the case of Wavefront, the debut dance festival going down Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1 at Montrose Beach, it's even a wet dream. That's because you can take a dip in Lake Michigan between DJ sets, of course. Or something.
The line-up is as good as anything we're seeing from Pitchfork, Lollapalooza or the Spring Awakening festival, even if it doesn't boast star-caliber acts like Skrillex or Diplo. Striking out with a balance of DJ bookings that will appeal to underground faithfuls, thirty-something clubbers and newcomers to the world of dance music, Wavefront is a refreshing change up from the dubstep and electro that's dominating the summer's other big fests.
The big names to look forward to include hipster-adored electro-tech artist Boys Noize, super-powered DJ duo A-Trak and Arman Van Helden a.k.a. Duck Sauce, and club veterans Erick Morillo and Sasha. Diving further in, names like Art Department, Matthew Dear, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Visionquest and crooners Benoit & Sergio basically spell out what is currently hot in the underground. Considering the fest is chiefly-organized by the guys behind Spy Bar, this makes sense. The club was the only Chicago spot highlighted in DJ Mag's recent Top 100 Clubs poll—it came in at 68—and it was because of its knack for booking what's hot and not played out.
Stay tuned for a second wave of announcements in the days to come. View the complete current line-up below and look into the completely reasonable ticket packages at wavefrontmusicfestival.com.
