Studio Paris heats up in May | Preview

Matt Roan, Brite Nites
Restaurant juggernaut Lettuce Entertain You has a long and proven track record of doing dining, and doing it well. The company's next generation of masterminds, brothers RJ and Jerrod Melman, have set out to do the same for the nightlife industry, and if the two hadn't already convinced you that they're just as well equipped for this world, the opening nights of May are sure to make you a believer.
Concentrating their efforts at the ultra chic lounge above Paris Club, the Melmans kick off the proceedings on Wednesday 2 at Studio Paris with a special edition of Studio Sessions featuring Crossfader King's Matt Roan. Roan, along with fellow Crossfader King royalty Emilio Abadia, manages the lion's share of DJ bookings for all the Melman brothers' ventures, including Hub 51, its subterranean club Sub 51 and RPM Italian. A visit to any of these spots has a bit of Roan, Abadia and company's stamp on it. Wednesday gets the unique spin from Roan himself for the release party of the fourth volume of his Bright Nites DJ mix series. Known as much for his extreme funkiness behind the turntables as his infectious personality—evidently, the dude's so hip, his ponytail even has its own Twitter feed which you can follow at @ROANytail—Matt Roan offers sets that are never shy on unbridled dance party magic. The Bright Nites series (and, naturally, its release party) sits somewhere between disco, indie dance, electro and clubby fist pumpers, which is not only what the dapper DJ does best, it's what Studio Paris excels at.
Studio Sessions presents Bright Nites 4 Release Party at Studio Paris (59 W Hubbard St. 312-595-0800) on Wed 2. 9pm. Reservations recommended.

The weekend continues with a somewhat unprecedented double header, first with world-renowned club superstar Tiësto, normally reserved for stadiums and standing-room only on Friday, May 4, and Mickey Mouse's rebellious, electro-loving cousin deadmau5 taking over the DJ booth on Saturday, May 5. Announced a couple weeks back, this impending performance from Dutch DJ Tiësto marks what has to be his most intimate Chicago performance to date, and reservations were snatched up accordingly. There's a sliver of a chance that you can snag a spot lurking in the corner, but early arrival for this one couldn't be more highly suggested.
The same goes for club rat deadmau5's appearance the next night, which was actually meant to be a surprise, until the the social media addict leaked the date to his fanbase over the weekend. Surely the mad scramble for table reservations has already begun, seeing as how this is also an unusually tiny venue appearance from this club personality, who was one of Lollapalooza's main attraction's last summer. According to one of Studio Paris's VIP hosts, tables for Tiësto were averaging more than $1,000 a piece, so if you've got the funds, rest assured that you're going to be well pampered when you're not freaking out and throwing your fists in the air to this blockbuster weekend lineup.
Tiësto and deadmau5 get cozy at Studio Paris (59 W Hubbard St. 312-595-0800) on Friday 4 and Saturday 5, respectively. 9pm. To find out about possible table reservations, call 312-595-0800.
(Note: L.A.'s DJ Spider was originally scheduled to appear at Studio Paris on Sat 5 and that is the event listing that appears in the print edition of the latest issue of Time Out Chicago. We are awaiting confirmation of when this booking has been rescheduled for.)
