Nightlife | New Year’s Eve 2012 events
Clubs, parties and electronic gigs to hit on NYE.

Big Gigantic
Big Gigantic + Griz
Amid all the generic EDM cash-ins this year, sax-fueled jazzy-bass act Big Gigantic and electro-soul standout Griz have become insanely popular without selling out. But that doesn’t mean this show won’t. So get on those tickets. Aragon, 1106 W Lawrence Ave (773-561-9500). 9pm; $50, advance $45.
NYE 2013: The Hood Internet & Friends
Chicago’s lovable dons of all things mashed-up, the Hood Internet this year released a debut album of original material. That doesn’t mean all your favorite rap and indie acts aren’t still going to get the Hood Internet treatment here. Beauty Bar, 1444 W Chicago Ave (312-226-8828). 8pm; $35.
OMG:2013
A style presence like Akira wouldn’t go to all the trouble of planning a New Year’s Eve party and keep it dainty. Instead, the fashion behemoth boasts four rooms, 45 bars and blistering sets from local party faves like Dance Floor Junkies, Rock City and Jernell Geronimo. The Drake Hotel, 140 E Walton St (312-787-2200). 8pm; $135–$195.
The Roaring Twenties
Amid our recession-era woes, plush nightspot the Crimson Lounge in Hotel Sax looks back to the unbridled yesteryear of the ’20s. Don that flapper dress and dry clean the tux so you can, too. Crimson Lounge, 333 N Dearborn St (312-923-2473). 8pm; $95.
12th Day of Porn and Chicken: New Year’s Eve
Evil Olive’s bang-obsessed crew parties for 12 days straight, ripping it up across town only to throw the biggest bash of them all on its home turf. Expect rough beats, tattoos and a severe shortage of clothing at this NYE rager. Evil Olive, 1551 W Division St (773-235-9100). 10pm; $80.
